Year in review & year ahead (belated)
I meant to write a ‘year in review’ on or around new year but, for completely normal reasons (i.e. I’m overcommitted), didn’t get to it until today.
I don’t normally do one of these, but I had a ripper 2006 and would like to congratulate myself on:
- 5 IA workshops
- 10 presentations at 8 conferences/meetings (including my first keynote)
- IA and IxD work for 6 great clients
- Writing a large proportion of my card sorting book
- One article for Digital Web magazine
- One article for Boxes and Arrows
- My first podcast interview (on card sorting, of course)
- A very fun 10 questions
- Quitting university
- Many hours work planning the IA Summit
- Not enough hours working for the IAI board
- Just a few hours for the WIPA board
- A gazillion hours cleaning up spam
- Crying in front of an entire conference audience
- Finally uploading some photos to Flickr
- Discovering Second Life
- Making loads of new friends
- Not keeping in touch with my old ones very well
- Neglecting my website
- but designing and building some for my local community
- Completely neglecting my blog (71 posts, but I bet a lot are announcements)
- Getting even better at Visio
- Picked the first apricots from my orchard
And…still spending some time with my family (though not as much as they’d like).
Oh, I’m tired just thinking of it. I think I’ll post my ‘year ahead’ tomorrow night.

Not a bad year at all, Donna!
Have you been sleeping much?
Hope this doesn’t set the bar too high for the rest of us

I did figure out one reason I can manage this, and it is that I always sleep well. Go to bed, asleep straight away. I’m sure that helps.
