<description>I agree that a web site and software have many aspects that are similar from a design approach. However I think it is important to note how an information-rich site is profoundly different to an interaction-rich site. I don't think that Lane quite made that point, but I think it is underlying part of the discussion.

<description>While I appreciate most of the stuff that Adaptive Path is doing, on this topic Lane's got it woefully wrong. Most egregiously he incorrectly trots out the old canard that a Web site isn't software. Sorry, Lane, but it is.

Too, he sets up a straw man to then knock down--the staw man that ALL usability professionals ONLY do summative usability testing instead of formative testing.

<description>Since the author provides no evidence that he has any expertise whatsoever in usability testing, let alone expertise in others' approaches to usability testing, much less their results, what is this article but a strawman built on the authors own ignorance? Better he had wrote "90% of All Usability Testing as Done by Adaptive Path is Useless, Perhaps More". His assertions, without any evidence whatsoever, about what he thinks usability testing is and is not are simply absurd. Why does the author waste his and our time writing about something he knows little or nothing about?
